David Mahlmann has worked on numerous projects including studio features, independent films, television shows, commercials, industrials, and documentaries.  

 

He attended Columbia College in Chicago where he studied the art of filmmaking and cinematography and began his career in lighting. 

 

David steadily worked his way into the camera department and after several years as a camera assistant, he moved up to full-time cameraman.

 

His work experience has enabled him the opportunity to work alongside such cinematographers as Peter Biziou, BSC; Bill Butler, ASC; Albert Maysles, ASC; Robert Primes, ASC; and Nancy Schreiber, ASC.

 

He has operated on such projects as Chicago PD, Crisis, Chicago Fire, Betrayal, Knight Rider, Ghost Whisperer, Six Feet Under; and the features: Stolen Summer, Look, and Puncture Wounds.

 

David lives in Los Angeles and is active in the production community. He is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild and a strong supporter of manufacturers that generate the tools and innovations for the advancement of the cinematography craft.
